Wizard Of Oz, The - A Musical Adaptation By Tom Kirkham
Product Description:
Cyclones, munchkins, witches and wizards, a yellow brick road and an emerald city: welcome to Oz, where anything can happen and a huge amount does, most of it involving a little girl called Dorothy, her dear dog Toto, her three unforgettable companions - the scarecrow, the tin woodman and the lion - and one very wicked witch.
With nine spellbinding songs, a gripping script and a heart-warming story, this brand new musical adaptation of the much-loved book is an ideal ensemble production for 9-13 year olds.
The Wizard Of Oz is a much-loved story, perhaps best known (still) through the 1939 film with Judy Garland. This new musical adaptation returns to the book by L. Frank Baum for its inspiration but - as those who have read the book will know - there are far too many different episodes and adventures to include neatly into a short musical.
As such, the essence of the story, its great heart, its wonderful sense of adventure, its innocence and its magic are very much the driving force in this new version, with a protagonist who is very definitely a girl as opposed to a young woman. We hope you have a brilliant time telling this enchanting story and the whole process is enjoyed by cast, creatives and audience alike.
Contains 38 speaking roles with a flexible cast size of between 20 to 60+ (ideal cast size 50).
The Director's Book includes the full script with song lyrics, character list and curriculum-linked material along with the sheet music piano score with vocal line and guitar chords. The accompanying CD includes all songs recorded with children’s voices and full backing tracks.
An editable version of the script in Word format is available to customers who also purchase a performance licence. The cost of the editable script is currently £9.95 and this can only be bought (along with the performance licence) direct from the publisher’s website or by email to info@theschoolmusicalscompany.com.
